This is the base page for the special Ball Exhibit that will be displayed at
City Bank Antiques in Kent Ohio during the special seminar outing to be held
there.
Ball was a jeweler and watch dealer before
he was an inspector on any of the railroads. He had worked for Dueber Hampden in
Cincinnati for a time before moving to Cleveland to set up his jewelry business
there.
Watches can be found with Ball's name and
the name Whitcomb and Ball that predate Ball's involvement with railway time
service. Ball also continued to produce and sell commercial lines of watches and
jewelry while he functioned as Chief Inspector for a number of lines.
This exhibit focuses on Ball's
"Brotherhood" watches and the "Official Rail Road Standard"
watches.
