The Elgin deck watch is a special edition of the Elgin Father Time 18 size movement. It is free sprung and fully adjusted with an up/down indicator. In the hierarchy of American deck watches, the Hamilton model 22 is the highest grade, with the Elgin following and the Waltham at the bottom of the group. However, if you are interested in durability, the Elgin falls to the bottom of the list.

The Elgin Father Time is a relatively common movement in the normal version with a regulator and without the up/down indicator. Even with the indicator, they are readily available as pocket watches. The pocket watch version of the Father Time Deck Watch was produced in very small numbers.
