Chester H. Pond patented the rotating motor self winding clock November 25th 1884. This clock with serial number 7311 has 3 poles in the motor rather than the 2 poles shown in the original patent. It looks very similar to the drawing in the May 10th 1887 patent but does not have the improved winding synchronizer that is the subject of the 1887 patent.

The dimensions of the case are 24" x 36"  and the dial is 17.25" in diameter. The case appears to be custom made for the installation. The clock was the primary timekeeper for Long's jewelry store in Ayer, Massachusetts when Long was a railroad inspector.
