The distinction between the timekeepers listed here and those in the Pocket Chronometer group is arbitrary in the sense that many of the pieces listed as Marine Chronometers are really gimbaled deck watches. The choice has been made based on whether they might reasonably fit into a pocket. Many of the ones listed under Pocket Chronometers would never, in fact, have been carried in a pocket.
