This part of the collection is an eclectic mixture of art in many forms with an emphasis on pottery and glass. These interests grew out of our long exposure to the West Virginia glass makers and the art potteries of Ohio. As mentioned with that collection, the interest in Moorcroft and McIntyre art pottery started earlier while we were living in Canada in the 1960's. None of these collections are particularly large. The object was to have one or two representative pieces from a wide variety of traditions. Often when there is only one piece representing a particular maker or even a school, it is not representative of the work of that maker or school. It is what was available and affordable when the urge to collect struck. Some of these items date from when we were living in Canada and I had a stall in a group antiques shop in Hamilton, Ontario. During the week I was working as a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Canadian Muscular Dystrophy Association. I was awarded a NATO Scholarship to study for a few weeks in Cambridge in the summer of 1968 and it was on that trip that some of our first English items were found. The best buy on that trip was probably the lime colored Fairy Lamp which we still have. The links at the left will take you to the various items in the collection.
