This is an example of the Waltham Bridge model sold in the British Isles. This watch is cased in a distinctive "crystal" case that was popular in England at the turn of the century. The case was made by the Dennison Watch Case Co. that was founded by Aaron Dennison who was also one of the founders of the American Horologe Co., the first of the Waltham predecessors. The case is 9 karat, but rather heavy and is hallmarked for 1923. This also serves to illustrate just how long it might take a high grade watch to actually be sold. Presumably the watch was cased to order for the buyer at the time of sale.

The dial is not as attractive as the dial on the other 23J example, but is typical of the English market. The English case style did not provide adequate room for the popular American double sunk dial.

This watch like the other 23J Bridge Model (that is from the same run) has 2 diamond end stones rather than the 3 that appear on the Premier Maximus and the 21J Bridge Model.
